• Study Vocabulary for Facilities Management
o Shutter: Frames that look like small doors located at each side of a window.
Some are made to close over the window for protection; others are fastened to the wall as a decorative device.
o Sill: The lowest part of a structure,
resting on the foundation and supporting the floor joists or the uprights of the wall.
The member forming the lower side of an opening, as a door sill, window sill, etc.
o Skylight: A window located on the roof of a building.
o Window frame : The stationary part of a window that holds the glass.
o Window sash: The operating or movable part of a window; the sash is made of window panes and their border.
