Lower High School Homework Blog w/o Feb 16

Mr. Anderson’s Class
Tuesday: Students will write the definition for vocabulary words 1-5 and then use each word in a sentence.
Thursday: (Vocabulary) Students will write the definition for vocabulary words 5-10 and then use each word in a sentence.
Friday: (Current Event) Read a newspaper article, magazine article, internet article, etc. about the crisis in Haiti. Come in Monday prepared to discuss what you have read. (Not completed on 2/5)

Wednesday: Study Packet, Describe how you will use scientific method to solve the problem of wind draft in you classroom.
Thursday: Study Packet: The middle, lower high and upper high schools respectively has 20, 30 and 50 computers. Draw a pie chart or circle graph to illustrate the information.

Mr. Ferguson’s Class
Tuesday – Find out what song sampled the chorus from “Ain’t No Woman, Like the One I’ve Got”
Thursday – Locate and watch a live performance video starring the Four Tops, any song (i.e. “Reach Out (I’ll Be There),” “Still Water Runs Deep,” “Same Old Song”)
Friday – Compare and contrast the original “We Are the World” video with the new “We Are the World 25 for Haiti” video. Likes and dislikes.


Mr. Jefferson’s Class
Tuesday: Worksheet on Organizing Data Exercise A # 1- 10.
Thursday: Worksheet on Box- and- Whisker Plots. Use the following set { 42, 48, 44, 45, 41, 39, 45, 49, 47, 44, 40, 51, 49} to make a box-and-whisker plot.
Friday: Worksheet on Probability and Complementary Events Exercise B # 9 -18.


Ms. B. Johnson’s Class
Language Arts: Short Vowel Sounds Worksheets; Read for 20 minutes (Be sure to log in the book on your sheet and get parent to sign it).
Math: 10 Problems each night on comparing positive and negative numbers, making an addition sentence for the moves given and adding positive and negative numbers.


Mr. McClenton’s Class
Tuesday: Do you believe that animals should be trapped and killed for their fur to make clothing? Explain your answer.
Thursday: Students will study their outlines in order to prepare for a comprehensive exam on hair.
Friday: List 5 facts that you’ve learned about animal fur.

SOCIAL STUDIES:
Thursday: Listen to 3 songs by the Temptations and write down what each song is about.

Everyday: Study/Review multiplication facts
Tuesday: Review good test taking skills in order to complete a mock DC CAS test on Thursday.
Thursday: Complete a take home assignment using a scantron sheet for DC CAS practice.
Friday: Review all vocabulary from the Cosmetology Academy that was discussed in class for week 1 and 2.
